Hi,

I've decided to keep my Mercedes and am no longer bothered about having FMBSH and was therefore wondering if you guys could recommend a good independent for its servicing etc in West Yorkshire (or the surrounding area).

Also if you could recommend a good bodyshop that'd be great as the car has a spot of rust on one of the doors and I could do with getting the wheels refurbed.

Thanks in advance.

Merc care are far from cheap though.....they are probably cheaper than dealers, and advertise as '50% of dealer labour rates', but when I have used their sister company BMW care I have had some scary scary bills, and thought that I may as well have just gone to the main dealers!!

Be VERY specific for what is included/excluded, and make sure they dont do any extra work without prior authorisation.......

Personally I cannot recommend them, as I found them to be expensive and have a very rough way of dealing with you when you questioned the bill...

Also, they charge extra for a courtesy car, and charge you for the insurance on it too....

Hmmmm....

By the sound of things your car is a 2002 model if it has a rust spot on the door (Mrs Orbs car is suffering this... and the wheel arches!!!).

MB in Leeds charge 73/hour for cars over 4 years old. I bet the Indie isn't half that price.

It's meant to be covered under warranty, but I hold out no hope that they will honour it since the car's last service was at an indie, and also the other side of the car (the one that isn't rusty) has been accident repaired. The rusty side is original, but I suspect they'll use the other side as an excuse to worm out of fixing it from the tales of weasilieness that I've heard frown

TBH with the mileage we rack up on it I'm just going to do a very careful job with a Dremel and then touch it up. The car will only be worth 3p in a year or so.
