Quick mobile phone question - Orange

I'm looking to get a new contract with Orange, not going to renew with Vodafone because the signal is generally a bit ropey where I live, and they have messed me a bout a bit.

Just checking that when you take out the contract, the cost of the phone (the one I want isn't a freebie on the contract I want), is a one off. On 3 for example, it looks like the build the cost of the phone into monthly price.

hey mate, I work for Orange retail... yup the cost of the phone is a one off.... anything else, give me a pm if you want! by the way, if you go for 24 month contract, the talk plan is £5 less a month if that interests you. And also depending where you live, you could get free broadband if not free then £8 per month as this is the cost BT charge Orange.

OP - are you sure that the Orange signal is any better in your area?

The market in mobiles is now pretty mature; as a new customer I'd be shocked to have to pay anything towards a phone. And I wouldn't go anywhere near a 24 month contract; the hardware might be getting cleverer but it's not getting any more robust.

most phones now come with 24 months warranty... plus mobiles like the HTC touch HD, and the N96 are sold by their manufacturers at such a high price to the networks, they are forced to put price on them in order to reclaim the phones worth... I bleieve 02 have boycotted the N96 for this reason!!!

haivng said that, if you want the HTC HD its available on the promo 24month dolphin 35 for free but thats the only tarriff its free on with orange, and that tarriff isnt £5 cheaper. but you get 600 mins and unlimited texts...

Maybe it's my phone, very cheap Nokia, but it's been the same with other phones too. My housemate is on O2, no problems, and my boss is on Orange, no problems. On Vodafone it's not too good.

Oh, one more question. Assuming I order the phone tomorrow, I still need to get the PAC code from Vodafone. Can I use the new phone, and then transfer the number to it and carry on, once I get the code?
