What is the fastest indicated speed you have had on your speedo only 140mph at 5400 revs in chimaera 500 (roof down)speedo is very accurate checked with GPS, 140mph in vectra 2.5cdx estate, 165mph in 1993 4.0 chimaera before I fitted fast road cam , chip etc speedo was 15 to 16% out when checked with GPS equates to 138-140(with roof down) any chimaera 500's that have hit the 167mph?

Only place you're every going to get close to these speeds is on a runway.
I beleive alan_d got his chim500 up past 160 (true speed) on one of the bruntingthorpe runs

Managed 145 out of mine with loads more to go (think it was at about 4,500rpm but I was too busy concentrating on the road!) but the uneven surface was chucking me about a bit and suddenly the thought of a blowout entered my mind...

In my 1997 Griff 500 I had a race spec 5.2 litre engine with Motec fuel injection, full ACT carbon/throttle bodies etc etc rated at 380bhp on bench dyno.
In Belgium I managed 6800 in fifth gear. This equates to about 185mph with 27.? per 1000rpm in top.
Needle was off the end of the scale
Very scary -only tried it once.

Indicated 145mph at Brunters, with the roof off and 30 deg C air temps (Chimaera 450). I expect it would be faster with the roof on and cooler air and if I tried a bit harder round that 180 deg bend at the start of the main straight. Would have helped if the bonnet hadn't popped open, too. And if the wife had pressed the correct button on the camera....

Posts like this one just serve to reinforce the pro-camera lobby - says he who has just been caught by one.

Would it not be better to keep it to oneself?

Have more fun when people think their car is faster by driving up right up your backside and then blowing them into the weeds in a nice striaght line.

Sorry to hear that Peter, I hope not too many points on the license.

Sounds about right. I was indicating about 147 or so, roof down. I don't think taking the corner much faster would help. I had masses of runway (1/4 to 1/2 mile) left before I stopped going any faster.

I found it didn't get any noisier/draughtier over about 80. And with a crash hat on, you don't notice too much. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed with 145mph. (And 99.7mph in 13.2 seconds at Santa Pod...)
