MegaSquirt for an early RV8 EFI
Discussion
First post - and I've spent days going through past ones looking for answers. ;-)
I'm intending fitting an MS2 to a Rover SD1 EFI. So far I've bought the kit, built and bench tested it, and modified a spare distributor to lock the advance mechanism. Which seems to trigger nicely - again on the bench. I'm fairly happy about the rest although I'm sure setting up will take time. But have a query:-
The MS2 allows the use of a stepper motor IAC.
The current IAC system (for warmup only) is a fairly crude electro/mechanical one - which has also fairly untidy plumbing, as designed.
Has anyone fitted a stepper motor system to this RV8 engine and can advise?
Or would it simpler to use a plenum from a later engine with the IAC valve already allowed for? Can this be done - or could cause other problems?

Here is a link to a MegaSquirt thread on LR4x4.com.
It is a huge thread but has everything you could want in there and includes the valve and its part number (found on volvos and Saab amongst others). You will also find maps for your engine. You will have to go back and modify your MS for the PWM circuit to drive it.

Get a coffee and a stack of Hobnobs as you're in for a long read.

If you're dying to use a stepper motor ISCV, then any hotwire RV8 uses them (i.e. Discovery) - mounted at the back of the plenum and a burger to get to. The one on one of my Dads previous Disco's had one which had failed; it managed to start ok without it and was fine after 10-15 seconds of idling...
