It would be nice if we could embed youtube links into pages than having to open a new window.
I know you don't want to let people insert their own html into a page, but why not have a [youtube] tag?
eg [youtube]Q4Qx0TJ520E[/youtube]?
Q4Qx0TJ520E = the video code on their site. The html parser on the page generation just adds explodes it to the full embedded link which contains http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4Qx0TJ520E

I disagree with this.
Surely people should want to decide if something is worth clicking, rather than forcing it on them. And especially with the nature of some of this content (as per P&P), then ...
1: I'd be sacked from work from viewing
2: PH would be deemed an unsafe site for people to view at work
3: Whoever posted it would be banned the moment I'd log on.

I think it's a fine idea, I half understand your point Kinkster, but how is it any different from allowing people to embed pics rather than link to them? The videos don't play automatically, you have to start them and they are in fact sized to a default, one could argue it's safer than pics which might be mahoosive and fill your screen with a classy Paris Hiltons kebab shot. Of course people who embed unsafe video should indeed be banned/reprimanded, same as if someone currently posts up a suspect image.
This is on the list of ideas for consideration, but it does need careful consideration first for the reasons outlined above.
In essence there is nothing wrong with embedding videos (as long as they don't play automatically) as it makes it easier for people to both browse and see what a video is before they click (so no links to things which are not what they say they are!) but until the bar has been raised a bit in the P&P I think the risk posed by NSFW material outweighs the benefits

It's not just the NSFW aspects that would cause trouble. My office won't allow access to any video streaming sites and also block a wide range of 'online community' sites. Pistonheads is currently tolerated because it doesn't raise enough flags to be deemed a problem, but it wouldn't take a great deal of change for it to move from 'tolerated' to 'blocked'.

Exactly - 100% spot on.Yet - for reason, we continue to have these utter imbeceiles and morons who think it's OK to post the utter drivel that they do - not realising the 'actual' impact it has. It's not just a simple case of post inappropriate material on what is primarily an automotive website; nor the fact that young ones, and females also read PH; which are all direct and immediate issues to deal with. But it's the bigger picture that no-one seems to grasp.
My own rule of thumb is that if it's OK to look at, at work, with my boss, PA, and team sat around me - then it's fine.
I also hasten to add that I'd be sacked immediately if I was 'caught' viewing some of the posts/pics on PH. And I know for a fact I'm not the only one in this position.

enbedding would be fine as long as you couldnt do it in the pie and piston, Ive never gotten on with ph tv really so it'd be good to see videos in linv without having to load up another webpage and all the associated adverts etc. Sherdog.net has it (huuuuge mma forum)and it doesnt seem to have stunted its growth, the videos are all related to mma so why not have motoring rvalated vids here?

We would like to add motoring videos to the site. It is the other stuff which might cause problems which we need to avoid.On the subject of PH.TV, it is due for an update so keep an eye out for a new and improved version in the near future.
