RAF Cosford 18/01/09 (similar to yesterdays Duxford pics!!)
Discussion
I made it up to Cosford in the end today. Said gales, hail etc etc never materialised so I decided to head up there. Bright blue sunshine all day...Couldnt have asked for better. Main reason for visit was to see the other surviving TSR-2 but more of that in a bit!
When i arrived there, there appeared to be a Sunday breakfast club meet going on as there were loads of various sportscars around. Naturally i was drawn towards the TVR's....lol (only car spotted with a PH sticker was the blue Cerbera). They were starting to go though as i got there so didnt really get any pics.
Anyways back to the aircraft!! Its the first time i've been to Cosford so it was good to see some new things. The experimental aircraft hanger was my favourite part of the site, and also the newest building with all the cold war aircraft was fantastic. To see how they managed to cram in a Victor, Valiant and Vulcan into such small space was quite amazing. Its a bit of a shame though just because its so crowded.
The other couple of hangers I wasnt quite as impressed with although they had some very nice aircraft. The Hendon museum has a better selection of WWII aircraft I think and more of them.
And of course though the main reason I went was to see Cosfords TSR-2!! I certainly was'nt disappointed but i think its fair to say she isnt in anywhere near as good a condition as the Duxford one. Yes i do know that Duxfords has been cosmeticaly restored. Its also interesting to see the subtle differences between the two aircraft such as the extra camera pods on the Cosford aircraft and slightly different nosewheel. The Duxford aircraft has no little addons so looks that much more sleek!
Anyways i took loads of photo's as one would expect so here we go with them.... Hope you all enjoy these as much as the Duxford ones !!
