How'd you get the headlamps to stay up (without power) so as you can remove the lamps and thus the pods?

Pull the fuse when up. Or, as I used to, disconnect the battery as nothing relied on it being connected and I couldn't be arsed to mess around in the footwell as I didn't know what fuses were what.

Sneaky trick ... remove battery lead when lights (side) are on...

Or you can pull the lift motor relays whilst the lamps are up

Or you can twist the knob on the bottom of the motor and raise them manually.
Easy to get to if you have the access hole under the head light, although I've reard a few don't.
