Supercharged Lotus Elise Type R
Discussion
AS I predict that I will get some heat for posting this from DIE HARD conservative Elise people who think that modding the Elise is any way whatsoever is terrorism here is something for you:
dragstar, chassis, bonce etc. Please do not be so hypocrite. Elise is a great car, but the fact is that it is underpowered. If it was not then there would not be any posts and threads about engine swaps, turbo technics superchargers etc. and generally speaking any threads whatsoever about how to get more power. Seloc is full of these kind of threads and posts and so is pistonheads so please... lets not be hypocrite.
Elise chassis can take it (Adrian N. also said it) and with proper set up it can also put it on the road. Problem with Adrians car is that the power comes out from big turbo and in an on/off form.
Turbo is not good for such a light car like Elise. Superchargers eliminate this problem and especially with the new genration Autorotor (company that holds all patents for screw chargers) twin screw supercharger this problem does not exist. Do you research on the subject if you are interested etc. You can also google lot of information about it.
You can get up to 400 bhp (but I think 300 BHP to the wheel is enough) from k20a with the new generation swedish screw supercharger (Autorotor twin screw super charger). Here is one example - Supercharged K20a :

If you want to go crazy then here you can get 500hp turbo kit for the Honda k20a:
www.cybernationmotorsports.com/
Those cybernation turbo kits for Honda K20a are sure crazy. The amount of power and torque is scary.
Personally I think that supercharging is the better option for Lotus Elise because of the cars low weight.
So as you see it is possible and not too hard to get good power and torque out from Honda K20a Engine with FI.

What, this?
Don't be ridiculous. Those are all legitimate questions to ask someone who starts posting very single mindedly on a topic that they don't really seem to have thought through very carefully (i.e. putting slick tyres on has implications with the strenth of all of the suspension components, putting a different engine in has implications on the car's weight distribution).
I didn't know what your background was, and for all I knew you were a school child who looks at the 0-60 times, BHP figures and thinks "well, that's not enough" without really understanding Chapman's philosophy. I'm not saying that's how you are, but until you introduced yourself, I didn't know that.
You said a couple of times that it will be the last sports car you will ever own, and I read that as "I will kill myself in it".

What's your background, liquid_technique? Have you raced or owned high performance vehicles before?
Do you have an Elise yet? Have you driven one?

So let me get this right, YOU dont own and Elise and have never DRIVEN one so you come on here and SELOC to tell us that the Elise is underpowered and had too much lift at high speed...and YOU have found a solution by searching the net via Google? and we're the hypocrites?
are you even old enough to drive? - by the tone of YOUR posts you certainly dont come across as being !

Mr Technique,
The point everyone is trying to make very politely is that the Elise does not need 300bhp to be quick in fact over powering it will compromise the handling - suggest you read my post as to why in another one of your 'look - you can put a supercharger in your car' threads.
I suggest you refrain from insulting people too as it's in the rules of posting. BTW Bonce is the moderator
on here and he'll ban yer ass.
Just popping over to seloc to view the mayhem....

its a war!!
seriously mate, i havent meant to be hypocritical, etc and im not a die-hard elise fan (look over the threads, and see where i've got it in the neck for pointing out a few faults). but i dont think you can call the elise underpowered when you havent drove one. if after driving a 111s, you hold the same opinion, then fine...do the mods and post us the results with some pics!!
until then, id suggest you stop insulting people...thats my job in general gassing!!
oh, your on the list

Mr Liquidy Technit,
It is mostly obvious you dont know much about Elise and lotus thing.
When I was learnin I had to take many critisms till I got the correct idea.
Now stop insuting thing you know not much about!
Yeah, listen to the man. He knows what he's talking about.
(He he! Liquidy Technit
) More gags please Chassis!
So you all accept the Turbo Technics TT260 conversion just like that and do not think it is too much HP for Elise etc.
BUT
When some one comes here with the idea of Honda based Engine conversion that makes 300 BHP you start screaming bloody murder.
Now lets see what is the real difference:
TT 260 = British and 260 BHP
Supercharged Honda Conversion = 300 BHP and American
Take THIS
Why do you hate America?
DUCK!
Surely three threads from the same person on the same subject (however controversial) is two threads too many?
This ELISE will be AWESOME!
Perhaps the perfect ENGINE for Lotus Elise!

I am thinking of putting my engine up for sale.
It is a supercharged K-Series and pushing out 290bhp.
QED built it and it has done 0 (zero) miles since the build, other than being run in on the dyno. It cost me approximately £18,000 and I am looking for sensible offers.
For further information and receipts email me

there are pictures of the engine there along with a power graph.
