Morning Folks !

I have a 2002 Passat Estate 130 TDI, in the last month the remote keyfob range has reduced to
the point where I need to be standing beside the drivers door to unlock it.
I eventually got round to sticking a new battery in the keyfob but this has made no difference.

I do have a spare....but i cant remember if i tried it or not (bad week)...will try it again later.

Any ideas in the meantime...?

Put the fob on your head when you press the button, it works a little!

Factory fit, or aftermarket alarm ?

On the BMW we own, it has an aftermarket Cobra alarm with a stubby 8" wire coming out of the siren which is the ariel. If this falls down into the engine bay, we have no reception. If it's on top of the siren, range is huge (so ariel is now taped to the top of the siren !)

As daft as it may sound, is the key fob kept somewhere really, really cold? Low temperatures have a detrimental effect on the power of batteries.
