Went to start her yesterday, unlocked, put the immobiliser fob in and turned over, cranked and almost fired up ok. Turned ingnition off then on again and nothing at all, re applied the fob to immobiliser and nothing still. Looked a bit harder at immobiliser and no red light at all. Tried setting the alarm unsetting etc still nothing. Advice as to what to do now please !! I guess disconnect the battery to reset everything ( any order which I should do things to reconnect) ? any visable wires etc to immobiliser that i can check by removing steering column cowling incase something has come adrift ? All other electric's seem ok.

Are you saying you are putting the rectangular alarm fob thingy into the slot near the ignition key?
If so you should not be. Just insert key plip the plipper and turn ignition on hopefully hearing the fuel pump priming...

Ok sounds like it might not be a normal setup then. Got a 3 pronged immobliser similar to one i had on a old range rover which needs to be pressed into the thinngy under my ing switch. My keyfob pressy thing sets/deactivates the alarm (red flashing led on central console) and locks/unlocks the doors. The alarm fob etc seems to do as it should still, is just the immobliser which is up the creek either got itsself totally confused, wire has come loose or is busted i am guessing!! Hence why I thought disconecting the battery may reset the whole system.

I am going on my procedure for my 99 griff and what Carl Baker said at last years Growl.. That the slot under the ignition key is for emergencies only ie. when there is an alarm problem and it gets you home. This was in answer to
a question raised by a pre cat owner from memory. Perhaps give Carl a ring?
