Need more details I guess.
£16k is a bargain for a new shape. For an E46 however . . . in January . . . the market will be slow.

I don't really understand why anybody would want to pay £16k for an old shape 3 Series, which I guess may explain why nobody has.

Yes it is.

Especially for the sort of car traditionally purchased by a younger buyer using cheap credit.

You can get an E46 M3 cab for that (16K) sort of money. I looked at the 330i cab a while back and thought they were a bit over priced.

With new shape cars (admittedly with smaller engines, but most cab buyers aren't that bothered) dipping into the teens now the late plate E46 are too expensive. Unfortunately I doubt that you will get much interest in your car until it is priced £14,xxx, even with spring on the way.
Visually, to the untrained eye it looks no different to a £7k E46 cab, so most used purchasers will either stretch themselves to get the new shape car (and the perceived impression gained from driving an 'expensive' car), or get a good value sub £10k E46.
[Just my opinion]

Sorry, but you are living in a fantasy world. You can buy a 2006 Approved Used 330 WITH nav for £17k! Less, if you don't mind the miles.

You are £3k over-priced.
