Lewis Hamilton GP2 overtakes

most of his GP2 overtakes. There were some which were due to anothers' mistake or the overtake was only in the background of a shot etc. so i omitted all of them. Still, tough work fitting it all into 10 mins!

He just has an overtaking gift that most don't have. Didn't he overtake something like 6 or more people in one lap?

That one through the middle at Becketts/Maggots was fantastic and I can say I was there to see it

I'd not seen the Silverstone overtake through maggots, very impressive.

You can see he has kept everything from his kart racing days and just moved it into cars, just doesn't care about there being 'no over-taking opportunities' does he?

i really put it down to having balls but not been silly with it and been too kamikazee. stunning work though and im really looking forward to seeing some of the top drivers really taking the battle to lewis and lewis giving them a good fight.

Great video once again, also like the sum up at the end 'racecraft like this isn't about the car'. Shows excellant control of the car through out, a level above anybody. When i went silverstone last year you do see the aggression that he puts in. He will brake later but still accelerates sooner than anyone, saw this perfectly at club corner. The same goes for Bruno Senna, very aggresive driver excellant to watch.

Lewis has the racecraft "for sure" and the more the fight is taken to him, the more he will rise above it. Racecraft is he best part of his game, not single lap pace, race pace, setup, development, commanding a team, tactics, tyre management etc. and all the other traits that have been proven you need some of to win WDC's.

Piquet, Glock and Pantano gave Lewis a good run at times, tho usually when Lewis had something to lose, than nothing to lose when he's at his genius best. Funnily enough, those are the only guys with F1 experience or were about to have F1 experience from '06...

In fact Piquet Jnr was (is) so like Snr it's untrue. Both slide the car regularly and gracefully more so than their competitors and when they win, they'd do so with a car so hooked-up that they'd devastate the entire field (if boring). The problems Piquet Jnr has at Renault are certainly nothing to do with his ability, but perhpas with his driving style in adjusting it to the on-rails one-line no-slide boringness of F1 and later, confidence. No surprise to me he's been kept on by Flav, but if he can't adjust to the '09 cars, time to go methinks... Or get Piquet Sports into F1!

So anyway, I was thinking on doing a little GP2 piece on Piquet Jnr seeing as I'm sure many F1-only people seem to see him as st, especially given how Lewis embarrassed Alonso in '07.

All of it. I meant as in the footage what you made.

Watching it again, i came to the conclusion that he should be good at overtaking because he practices at it so much, but what are the others doing?

The others were mostly being not as good!

There are a few good overtakes from the rest, Piquet mostly. But Lewis was ridiculously far ahead of the rest overall.

I want to try and get some Euro F3 series footage from 2005. I only saw a couple of races on TV. Lewis had nearly double the points score of 2nd place man, Sutil in a field that also had di Grassi, di Resta, Vettel who was proably about 12yo, Antinucci, Perera who also went to GP2 in 06, Rossiter, van der Garde etc. - a good quality field.

We were sat in the Becketts stand and even my conservative father was on his feet punching the air. One of the best moves I've ever seen. The kid is special for sure.
