Interesting reading in the Sunday Times today. Clarkson's favourite cars don't include a TVR, which are dismissed for having a fiddley roof. Best convertible was the honda s2000, best coupe the GTV.

Quite a surprise given the preponderance of favourable Clarkson quotes on the "Best TVR quote" thread below.

Yes, but he mentions how TVR get all the important bits right where other manufacturers fail, then fall over at the roof. As we know, the roof is one of the less important parts, otherwise nobody would buy an Elise

Just shows how fickle any journalist is when they want to get a piece published. A few years ago he rated the Chimaera as best sports car of the lot, better than the MX5, BMWZ etc. etc. Remeber thebit where he makes out to have chosen the MX5 and then says but do you think I'm that daft? No way and blasts past in a 5.0 Chimaera!

journos have it easy - they dont have to save up, look for, buy and then run the cars. They just get to drive them for a short period of time (ok, some drive them for a little longer than that) and pass judgement. Clarko is better than most, but he still seems fickle when talking about some cars.

I remember the piece he did on a Griffith he took to the continent - hated TVRs before he left, came back and loved them. Yet never really mentioned them again - he prefers his Jag and Ferraris...

At least he is consistent in his hatred for Toyota Corollas...

Cheers,

Paul

Clarkson is making a damn good living ad paying for the services on his Ferwarwi by telling anybody what they want to hear and filling column inches with the sdame drivel ... he's been doing it and getting away with it for too lnog.

I'd still watch hm on TG though ... but he 'outgrew' it. Pathetic.

It was a funny one but he might be pushing it bit when he writes "a bloke in Monaco offered a straight swap for his F40"

I do enjoy Clarkson, his shows and vids. A very good talker and quite whitty. But he does seem to hava a short memory doesn't he.

He IS entertaining, but I take his automotive comments with a vat of salt.

Don't worry about Clarkson, the fact he drives a Ferari & a BMW Z1 says it all.
