Guys, we are letting ourselves down
Discussion
I have spent all day sifting job applications.
What struck me was how, when compared to the women applicants, the guys were basically rubbish. Their applications were half hearted and missing details and they couldn't seem bothered to do the spell checking and general tidying up before they posted.
The people I am working for expect to have almost 2000 applications (received in a week) for about 100 jobs over the next 12 months so they can afford to be fussy. If they have too many for interview I can see them simply prioristing the ones who have sent a full set of details as they will have to write to the guys who have missed bits out to fill the gaps. A few haven't even bothered to replace the clients name in some sections after applying to one of their competitors which will make them feel really special.
Have we had it so good for so long that we have forgotten how to apply for a job, or are we just so confident we think the fact we play rugby will carry us through to interview?
