RBS Shares???????????????????

Need some help, is it the right time to buy some Bank shares, maybe RBS or Barclays yet? We have,nt got alot of spare cash but could afford to spare £5000, i know obviously they can go down or even in reality be worhless, and also realise it wont be a quick"buck".
