The Twin Cam is basically the same engine which ever donor car it comes out of. However, anything 105 based is as you say engine/box/prop. Anything 116 based (Alfetta etc) is engine, prop, transaxle. You are best sticking with the formats the donor came in i.e. don't try and use a 105 engine on a 116 transmission and vice versa. It can be done but there are detail differences in bellhousings, crank etc. You need to decide where you want your gearbox and then work from there! 105 based donors will cost more than 116 as 105s get restored and many 116s get scrapped. Many Alfa specialists stock donor cars and used bits. www.velocesport.com and www.trentsideclassics.co.uk shouldn't be too far for you. Good luck with it!
