Hi all, at the moment I have my bonnet and radiator off and I have noticed that the steering rack mounting rubbers are both perished, I have emailed TVR Carparts (although I can't find them on their website) and I am waiting for a reply, are they simply standard chevette items or are they something completely different ? Has anybody on here ever had the same problem ?
Cheers.....Tony..

Hi Tony

Bad news I think, Adrian@ has told me they are unobtainable when he rebuilt my steering rack. IF you find any please get me a pair as well, thanks

as the rack is vauxhall chevette based, are the rubbers and clamps not the same? if so TJ Motorsport do lovely machined alloy clamps with poly rack clamp bushes. a mate has bought and fitted some to his car (not Tiv) and they are nice. about £45 =vat and carriage. will ask him for pics if anyone wants to see them?

I have got a chevette rack with brand new rubbers on - I have sold it now but I can take pictures of them if it would help as it hasn't been picked up yet.

They are definately standard Chevette.

for std ones, try scimitar marque suppliers Graham walker Ltd in Chester and QRG Quennsberry Rd Garage in Northants as a chevette derived rack is used on the smaller scimitars as well

I must be going mad, I spent ages trawling ebay for said rack rubbers to no avail, I guess my timing was unlucky. Anyway It's all back together now so access will be tricky, but the search will continue.
Cheers.....Tony..
