Anyone here buy this 400SE?
Discussion
Just wondering if anyone on the forums bought this 400SE.
I previously owned it between about 1997-2001 and I've seen it for up for sale a few times over the last few years.
Cheers.

looks a nice car.
Had to laugh though at the quote "I defy you to find a 400 with a better chassis that has not been totally stripped and rebuilt!"
MIne has had a sheltered life .. all origional chassis tubes, minimal corrosion on outriggers and tubes .. mainly because it was a summer car and spent its winter months in dealers before I bought it.
Then, thanks to a major gasket leak in 1999 when I bought the car, it covered the underside in oil (and the car behind me for that matter) so the chassis has allways been well "lubed!!"
Now, as its sat in my garage for the last 5 years, only covering 2000 miles in that time, its all bone dry and low humidity
I think its going to return to our streets next year now the baby seat will work with the harnesses

Hi Rocket, I found your last post about this car in the thread Jim (Shadowfax) posted just before his rather expensive invoices meant he had to sell the car.
It's amazing hom much history I've found for this car on PH, Although I can't figure out who bent it in 2003 !

Hi Simon. Congratulations on the car...I hope it's good to you!
Just looking back at the other thread, if it was bent in 2003 I guess it was either Henry D or Colin M. Did Jim not manage to contact these guys via the TVRCC? As I said before, I passed on a pile of paperwork and receipts with the car and was disapointed to hear that someone else didn't pass it on.
I'll try and keep an eye on your posts to see how your getting on with the car. Good luck with it mate and enjoy!

What paperwork was this, i have some old bills and recipts but not masses. It is sometimes the case that when a car is written off the history/paperwork has to be sent to the insurance company. Its not unusual for this to then be 'lost' by the insurance company!!rocket said:

Service invoices from Barnet and Fernhurst from the early '90s to '01, MOT certs, plus invoices for all additional work I had done during ownership...clutch, tyres, etc. I thought the clutch felt very nice though!! That would explain it!
