Discussion
Now Mel has her new baby, I've suggested that we give it an oil and filter change, and it looks like it also may be a good idea to pop a new battery on there too.
Oil Filter
I've done a search of the archives here, and have come up with the following - can someone confirm that the following oil filters are correct:
Powertrain PMFL76
Coopers Z501
Champion C106
Fram PH2854
Motorcraft EFL-38
Oil
I'm also a bit confused as to what oil to go for. I'm not keen on using Mobil 1, as I personally think this is too thin for older engines, so am leaning more towards something like Castrol GTX Magnatec. Has anyone else gone for this, or are there any better options?
Battery
I understand the battery is either a 69 or 72, but I'll check to see what's on there, and get a similar sized one with 600+A capacity as from what I've seen, it looks like there were a few different types fitted.
Brakes
THe front disks are looking pretty ropey, so I'd like to put a new set on, along with pads. Mel's not going to be doing track days in it, so I reckon standard disks will be fine, along with a decent set of road pads (Ferrodo/Mintex).
From what I've seen here, the ones we need to go for are off a '90 2.0 Sierra - is this correct? Would standard parts from my local spares shop be OK, or should we be looking at anything a bit more high-performance?
Mel's still waiting for her bible to arrive, so apologies if all this is explained in there!
