Newbie saying hello

Hi

Thought I'd pop in and say hello to everyone on this part of PH.

After years of using a small compact digital for hol shots and various car stuff thought I'd make the effort and give a DSLR a go.

Used to have a Canon slr set up years ago but to be honest could never give it the effort it deserved so gave it away to a relative 10 yrs ago.

Now I'm a bit older with a bit more patience and time thought I'd give it another go.

Mrs H bought me a Sony A200 with the 18-70mm lens for xmas and below is a link to the first few shots with it.

I haven't bought any more stuff to go with it yet but am on the lookout for a decent tripod cause for some reason I shake like a mad man if the camera isn't supported.

I think the chilling cat pic is about the best I've ever taken, beginners luck!

Just need to get one of our Labrador now, if I can get him to keep still (may try gluing his feet down!!

I'll try keeping off the rum and hopefully stop shaking!!

Some nice pics to start with there Rob. I too brought an A200 a month ago and love it, just been playing with it but nothing major to post yet, but i think im coming along slowly but surely! you might be intrested in this thread here

Had a quick look through it at xmas but will spend a bit longer when I get a day off. Did find what I read helpful.

Also got quite a helpful book for xmas that covered some basic stuff that I've been reading through.

I want to try and understand the technical aspects of taking a photo rather than just pointing and shooting, didn't do this with my first slr years ago, just used it like a bulky compact!

Hi Welcome, Pretty much the same story here except my film slr set up was minolta so lucky to have a couple of extra lenses to use with the a200, I have also added 1 or 2 other bits from ebay including this lot http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am... All I need now is to find some time to learn how to use it all, Have also added you as a contact. Ian
