Further to this topic I started at the end of last year

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Has any heard of this place?

http://www.beachhoteluk.co.uk/index.html

Worth looking into more or avoiding etc? It would appear that Sandsend has got a few places to eat.

Thanks for that Mark. Is Sandsend a good place as a base?

And what's the parking like for my old donkey?

From Sandsend you can get to Whitby, further North, down to Scarborough, across the North Yorkshire Moors to Pickering etc, it's not terribly easy to get to (Whitby is remote enough and Sandsend is further on) but very quiet and peaceful.

Parking might be an issue, it is mostly on road, you'll need to check with the hotel.

Dunsley hall country house hotel is only 1or 2 miles from sandsend and is superb. Pm me if you want any more info as I look after quite a few hotels/cafes/restaurants in Whitby area for work. "might" be able to get you a deal!

We stayed there a few years ago, but bedrooms very small, otherwise excellent

We'd looked at, and initially discounted, Dunsley Hall for two reasons. 1, Prices - but I see from looking further they do a week discount rate. 2, It's sort of on it's own which would make it difficult to just walk somewhere else to get something to eat.

I'll have another think about this one and may send you a PM.

It's quite pricey for the size of the rooms. It's cheaper to stay if you agree to eat in their restaurant. In other words they know it's a fairly captive market there.

Spoke to them yesterday. Parking is at the side of the road and can be quite difficult when the place is full of day trippers.
This sort of makes Dunsley Hall a bit more popular due to not having parking issues.

Thanks all yet again for your help.
