Just how bad can it get..........

Well I'm of to France in a couple of months and obviousley It's a big move to up sticks and leave. The more I think about the way this country is being led into a financial black hole, the more I'm convinced we've made the right decision.Gordon and his chums dont know what to do other than keep spending.I fear for the next generation and the amount of debt they will be burdened with.France won't be a bed of roses but it can't be any worse than what's on offer

I don't know about France, but we moved out to Italy over a year ago, but due to the direct tax burden being almost three times as high as the UK, I have decided to work from the UK for 6 months and pay UK taxes into my UK Ltd company account - in Italy you really are working for the state, and not yourself.

I thought paying taxes in Italy was optional.I have decided to bite the bullet and move to the UK for the required 183 days per year, to qualify for paying UK taxes. (21% corporation tax)

This last lot sent my old man off to the IOM when he saw which way the wind was blowing in 1996.

Yeah, France doesn't have any social or financial problems at all.
Exactly right, the only thing I envy the French society for is it's ability to live and let live, they seem not to be tied up with political correctness which stifles progress and also don't dwell in self pity that we seem to.sone said:

Nearly 3,000 police officers have been injured in clashes this year. Officers have been badly injured in four ambushes in the Paris outskirts since September. Some police talk of open war with youths who are bent on more than vandalism.
“The thing that has changed over the past month is that they now want to kill us,” said Bruno Beschizza, the leader of Synergie, a union to which 40 per cent of officers belong."
Sounds nice.

Tax starts at 18% and has 5 bands up to 45% maximum. National insurance and pension is 11% so a higher rate tax payer sees 50% overall deductions compared to 40% overall (tax + NA) in the UK.
Oh and I live and am taxed in Italy and negotiated my package to offset the extra 10% overall deductions
