dont they get upset when taking photos
Nothing they can do if you want to take pictures but I'm fairly sure if it's being staffed by a real police officer as opposed to a civvy then you could get in trouble if you put yourself/car in the way. But then again I could be completely wrong!!

You can take all the pictures you want. If they claim Crown Copyright, tell them that doesn't stop you taking the photographs. If they persist, tell them that Copyright is a civil matter, not a criminal one and ask them therefore what it is to do with them. If they attempt to detain you, say you will claim false arrest as they have no right to detain under such circumstances.
If it is legal to park where it obscures the camera, park there!
That said, if this is an accident blackspot, then do not obstruct their activity, but put up a warning sign, "Accident Blackspot, Police radar operates here" before their van.

Tell them they are talking tosh. You own the copyright. The only thing you can not take a photo off in a public place are areas covered by the Official Secrets Act
bluepolarbear said:True for the photograph itself, but not for what is being photographed. The copyright(s) for that belong to someone else. The argument that has been put forward is that the police logo (and other designs on the vehicle) is Crown Copyright. However, an issue could only arise if the photograph were published ... and there is plenty of precedent to show that the Crown has not objected to the publication of photographs of police vehicles on the grounds of abuse of copyright - Streaky
