The inauguration of Obama seems to have swallowed up most the news websites. That means its a perfect opportunity for Government & councils to get those terrible news stories they don't want us to know about out the way while no-one's watching. Anyone spotted those articles?

I checked my spread betting account earlier today.

Hadn't quite expected yesterday's "good news" about the Uk banking rescue to make such an impact on sterling. Idiot! getmecoat

Saddest is an Irish property bloke who topped himself after he lost a lot of money.

Lots of jobs gone, banks getting hit hard, pound plumetting, generally another horrible day.

Well, they have already managed to pass the 'pay for household waste by weight' without being noticed. Makes one wonder just what else they have up their sleeves.

70 year old man tied his dog outside Tescos while he went to get milk, the dog was snatched by some lads. Old Faithful was found the next day in a stream after being mutilated. Only small news but not nice for the old chap & the lads need stringing up before they move on to people

Just some saddos salivating over a new girl that they have not one iota about. How these people don't have a heart attack when a girl brushes past them in public is really quite something.

not really what I had in mind, my own thread will just make me depressed!

I was more thinking of the controversy - the "when you weren't looking, we bought RBS..." or "MP's vote to double their expense allowances"!

That while the news was harking on about Gaza where perhaps 1000 people got killed.

About 40000 people were killed in the Congo over the same time.

Don't know if it's true but it was on one of the TV News channels earlier.
