I guess you mean a firm that were around the Thornes Lane area.

The only other firm I can remeber dealing with after them is Rossendale Springs Nr Blackburn, there was another firm in the Sheffield/Rotherham area, but the name won't come back to me at present.Google brings up Owen springs in Rotherham.

Since trucks went on to Rubber or Parabolic springs and cars on to coils I guess a lot of these people went out of business.

Tootal Street in Wakefield, if it is still trading, but can't remember the name of the Co. It was a few years since but a mate of mine had springs retempered for a Mk2 escort. HTH.

I used to supply spring steel in a previous life but forgotten lots.

The company on Tootal St begins with an "L" IIRC.

Owen Springs in Rotherham will be a good bet. There used to be a rather nice set of girls in the office there!! If they can't help ask them who can.

There was a company in Stanningley who re-tempered. Three letters S--. A guy called Simon ran the company with his father Ken. They worked out of the old railway station.

Anyway, all this info is 20 years + old & we rely on coil springs these days.

Hope you get sorted & let us know please.

Cheers guys, the firm in Tootal st. wakefield. have long gone, I'd used them myself years ago. I was told of the firm in Stanningley from a few friends, "SMJ" this'll be the Simon mentioned, tried to phone them but the number didn't exist, it'd been mentioned that they were thought to be no longer there.
Talking to a guy today who works with Land Rovers & he suggested Owen's & Son in Rotherham, just as suggested on here. So I've taken the springs there today, should pick them up next week.
Seems to be a dying trade, these guys though seem to be a large firm supplying springs for locomotives, with a good informative web site, easily googled.
PS, fairly cute girl in the office too!

Now I have seen the Website,Owens was the one I meant, they had a guy who lived in Huddersfield and he would bring/collect on his way home on a night.
They supplied me some new springs for a Toyota Hilux complete with all bushes and pins for less than Toyota would sell just the bushes and pins.
