What the hell have I done??
Discussion
Hiya this is my first post. Guess I could do with a little bit of advice.
Short story is, bought a cat c 04 tamora back in june last year when was with my ex, we split up a couple of months later, but he's still been doing work on it for me (or so i thought), but things have turned very nasty the last couple of weeks. So short is, I've arranged to have it collected tomorrow morning to be taken from his garage to a guy that specialises in repairs.
I've bought all the parts for it, it's had most of the body work done aparently (i haven't seen it in 6 months)and it's engine has been repaired (had an engine fire) everything just needs putting back together. What i'm asking now really is what kind of rates do the professionals charge lol?? I'm dreading my quote tomorrow when he picks it up, up until now i've been only been paying for parts - no labour - any advice appreciated.

I have just spoken to Heath Briggs (X-Works Service ) , used to be TVR Service Manager, and he is interested in doing the work, phone him on 07969 454 703 anytime....Surface & Design are close at hand in Blackpool if it does required extra body/paintwork. They'd done a few fire damaged cars recently.

Wherabouts are you? I know there are some good people oop north.....ah, just reread that and can see your dilemma. £35 and hour sounds familiar
35 pounds an hour???? wow, i wanna go there! i'd expect the national average to be about 60 p.h, you could be facing a very large bill im afraid.Edited by Apache on Tuesday 20th January 19:02
Give Ryan a call, he's in Chester. He's doing my tuscan, highly recommended! http://www.spautomotive.co.uk/7.html
I have just looked at google and it's about 150 miles from you. You could get it transported there as I did, I'm right down in West Sussex. Good luck!

Hi I'm an ex mechanic living in Weston S mare also own a Tamora.
I get over to Swansea quite alot with work and would be willing to come have a look at it for you.
For the maintenence I don't do myself I use Dulfords who are in between Taunton & Exeter just of the M5.
I think they charge £35/40 an hour and are very good.
I see others have already recommended Richard

Second vote for X-Works and S&D. Might be a long trek but it would be worth it. Look at this thread here.http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
The car was sent from North Scotland to Blackpool because of the quality of work that could be obtained.

P.S. I live in Newcastle upon Tyne so not exactly the closest place to me either.

look up fforest/ forest (spelling) garage in pontardualis he was a dealer and is an insurance approved repairer, he is a really nice guy and happy to give any info over the phone or in person, he let me put my car on his ramps and even gave it the once over for me for free.
I work in swansea but live in margam and its not that much of a trek.
warning though its an awkward place to get into to as it has a steep downhill road to it, i grounded the cerb on the way in and out (only on exhaust though). very easy to find though.
if you want hisd number or cant find it then email me and ill give it to you.

This is a one-off job and could be quite a big one so don't be put off by getting the car to a specialist - the right specialist - some distance away. Compared to the job overall, getting the car transported there to start with, and getting yourself there at the end to pick it up is not as big a task as it looks.
Also, although not speculating on the cost of the repair/rebuild, the cost of transporting and a train ticket or petrol money for a lift will not be that much in the grand scheme of things.
