Could you kill someone?

On every thread concerning torture or cruelty towards people or animals, there are always a raft of people who explain what they'd like to do to the perpetrator.

Imagine, if someone had viciously killed a member of your family. Would you try to kill them - could you - given the consequences of your action?

Despite the number of people who say they would, you never seem to see reports of revenge killings in the media.

Eye for an eye or leave it to system?

Simply because of the acknowledged repercussions of such an action, I don't doubt.

I dont think I could in the situation you have described, i think I could hurt them quite badly but not kill them.

If I was in a situation whereby I thought my life was in jeapordy and it came down to a them or me situation then yeah I truly believe i could..

My dad (ex copper) said to me from an early (ish) age "better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6"

I can imagine doing it in hot blood if sufficiently enraged, but then feeling horror well over me the instant the deed was done.

No it was an accident. They just slipped and accidentally brutally cut their own head off. Paper cut I think.

I suppose it depends. Ideally I'd never like to be in that situation () but who knows what would be going through your mind after a traumatic event like that?

I think if I was angry enough to kill someone in revenge I wouldn't really care about the consequences until I had done the deed.

If it was certain the people were responsible for my familys deaths then I'd have no problem in making it a long & painful experience for them. Bunch of cowards.

I've been asked this before and always said I thought I could but who knows how I would react. However now that I've had my little boy even the thought of someone harming him enrages me to a point where I'm quite scared of how I would react if anything ever happened
