Just saw on the news there, that Northumbria Police are pioneering a new thing where they give a yellow card to a driver doing a "minor" thing such as in-appropiate use of Fog Lamps, Reaching to get a CD, using a mobile, causing someone else to brake, lane hogging...

Rack up 2 yellow cards and you get a red, where you can either pay £150(ish) and go on an awareness course (2 days) or goto court and get the 3pts and fine.

Now I quite like that, I just hope the money is used for the course and nothing else.

I liked the old system: Copper sees you driving shite, pulls you over and shouts, and you drive meekly for the next six months. Yellow cards? Are they taking the piss?

"Excuse me sonny but you had your fog lights on and it's not foggy, here's your yellow card"
"Screw you copper, I'm playing my Joker"
"Ah, but I stopped you on a triple fine square"
etc, etc.

Either go back to proper policing or just start shooting numpties, everything else is a waste of effort.
