i haven't played with these you. but if your playing to buy a double din stereo and then use the touch screen to control the pc. then im afraid you will be disappointed as you wont be able to do it.

i know some people have brought a 7inch touch screen display and then moded the adaptor plate to take the screen. don't know if this will help

Racebreed the guy who's unit it is that the midlands meet is being held should have the answers you need. He specialises in car audio and visual stuff. The weirdo had a tv thingy screen in his steering wheel. He has access to all that kind of stuff.

I did say in the last thread that the screen wouldnt fit, its either a case of cutting the dash to fit the screen or buying something like this.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lilliput-7-In-Dash-TFT-LCD-T...

or

http://www.tradesolution.hk/e/product/product_deta...

Then you could have a standard headunit under it with a AUX input and run the audio from the PC though the standard stereo but you need to make sure you buy a touchscreen with a VGA input.

yeah i know you did

so im thinking i could use that screen as a headrest screen now only and run it from a in dash dvd player?

and i cannot connect my pc to a in dash dvd player with touchscreen and use it as it wouldnt work?

but i can connect to one of those monitors and use it, becuase they are monitors?

my question is i beleive the in dash dvd headunits use windows CE someone on here had got the hang of it and reprogrammed the menus etc, i wanted to know how hard that was to do as it may suit my application seperately

I think it might have been me who post the stuff about redoing the CE units but to be honest I gave up, you cant reload the OS and every time you turn off the car it would lose all the setting which means always hearing the same song when you get in the car.

In dash DVD players are just that DVD players not a monitor so you cant connect them to a PC you would have to buy a touchscreen monitor.

An indash WinCE unit would do most things GPS, songs, DVD's etc.. but would make you carpc redundant and it alot hard to customise and add extra things.

my screen is overall 2cm taller than a double din and near enough the same width so i think i will merely need to modify the adaptor and thats all
