Tamora/T350 Radio/CD/Navigation System

Morning all,

I've been offered a Pioneer Radio/CD/Navigation system. The sort where the screen appears out of the radio and flips up. Fits in a standard 1 DIN (?) slot.

Has anyone fitted a similar system to there Tamora/T350. Just wondered if there is enough room for the screen to slide out without hitting the gear stick, and if you have any pictures would be interested to see how it looks.

I just sold my Avic x1r. I was going to fit in my Tamora the screen will fit ok but the problem I read about was the harsh ride and vibration in the car upsets the gyro in the the hide away unit.
Space is limited.

I have a flip screen in a 350c, The screen will hit the gearstick if left in 1st, 3rd or 5th. Its made the measure if left in Nuetral. Wiring behind the dash is tight and may take a few attempts to get in. Does the system your been offered just plug in on ISO block or does it have aseperate control box?

With the vibrations it can suffer abit as the screen gets older. I dont really drive with mine open now.

That's what I had fitted into my Tuscan, never had any problems with vibration/skip issues.

As far as fitting suggest you ring Carl, he's the TVR audio guru.

I had the Avic X1r in my Tam, T350 and Sag. Great piece of kit. the screen does catch the gearstick in 1,3 and 5th, but if you know about it not a problem. Never had any issues with skipping etc...... It was relatively easy to install as well, plugs into the multi plug already there, the most difficulty bit is installing the hid away unit, which i fitted under the passengers seat.

Hi, I bought the Avic for my T350. Fitting the unit took about an hour as the head unit plugged straight in to the connector in the car. I did however have lots of problems with vibration on the hideaway unit which would reset the GPS lock, and it spent more of its time searching for a signal becasue of it.
I did take the car to an ICE installer who spoke to Pioneer and they said it could be a problem on these type of cars and that I needed to suspend it in someway. I gave up and sold it and have bought a separte satnav and head unit.
After giving up I did have a response on here from somebody with a T350 who said his hideaway unit was fitted under the centre tunnel behind the gear stick, a place with the least vibration - but at that point I had sold it.

Borrowed one and tried it whilst debating this before. As mentioned, it's a VERY tight fit in odd gear numbers (i.e. can cause an issue), and the vibration's a bit of an issue.

In the end I decided if I was going to go down a multimedia route, I'd get one of the 3-4" screen ones that just clips on and sits a bit above/below the normal fascia front.
