......any ideas out there ?

I need two new rear tyres, driven 7 thousand miles on the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 `s and need replacing, just scraped through the M.O.T. Test.

Best quote so far ( local ) is £276.05 each fitted . Anyone experienced Bridgestone RE050`s?, they cost £238.56 but I like the Pilots, good in the rain etc.

All suggestions appreciated.

Michelins are twice as expensive as every other tyre but then they as four times as good. If your car is any good (as opposed to being a banger with stupid wheels) I cannot see why you would compromise on tyre choice for the sake of a couple of hundred quid. Unless you can't afford the car.

Try www.mytyres.co.uk they are generally cheapest. However, at the moment good old Kwik Fit has some very aggressive deals and ATS Euromaster are offering 25% off if you buy 4 michelins.

Edit: I see from your profile your car is a SL55 AMG. I guess that counts a s quite good. I would not put anything other than PS2s on it in summer and Pilot Alpin 3s in winter.

Last time round I found that the PH Blackcircles deal was best for the Michelins.

Costco were nowhere near.

I have the Bridgestone RE050's coming in at £263.98/ Tyre fully fitted. Might be able to improve on that.

If your interested in quotes, drop me an e-mail.
