Anyone had a bad experience on ebay, I certainly have unfortunately the person I refer to is a member of PH, no goods and no money returned and the seller of a TVR part.

A number of telepone calls, special delivery letter to the seller and no response even though he has promised to return the money on several occaions, this matter is now 2 months old, he appears to totally ignore my requests for the return of my money.

perhaps this will prompt him before I take it further.

Want the details of the mickey mouse seller to prevent you being ripped off, email me on my profile!!

The item in question is

TVR CHIMAERA/GRIFFITH PIPERCROSS AIR FILTER - Item #2428424886

Unfortunately by the time I realsied it had gone pear shaped I was not able to leave big time negative feedback. It appears that this person has now assumed a new ebay profile, and currently has a car for sale on ebay, not a TVR thankfully, I have been watching his messages on PH, and will track him.

I have all emails back and fore, copy of cheque requested from the bank and documents concerning the transaction, as I have said I will not let this matter drop.

I have no problem with naming this person, name , address, tel No but am not too sure this is the place to do it at present.

It's not a problem, I advertised the filter on Ebay, it was a Pipercross for a Chimaera that went for £8.50, as many of you know I have just changed jobs and all my stuff from the garage is in boxes and I am having trouble locating it between three locations so I have sent a cheque back.
I cancelled my Ebay registration in that name because I was using my private reg plate and in retrospect didn't think that was wise. My home P.C. has a virus at present which presents me from using Outlook so I emailed Steve from my work.
Unfortunate but as simple as that.

Steve you have most certainly over-reacted on this occasion the cheque I have sent back is for more than total price for one, and secondly I genuinely wanted to send out the filter rather than refund you, the money is not the issue, I would certainly advise against giving out my phone number as this is ex-directory and you would have obtained this deceptively.

I guess that explains S27's random post on your Jetta thread then.

CD - forgive me for playing devils advocate:

Objectively speaking - SP was expecting goods within a reasonable timeframe - if you send money to a 3rd party you are going to be suspicious if it is cashed and you have not received the goods within 2 months - after only 4 weeks I would suggest most people would start to get upset. If, as is stated, you were to refund the money or find the item in the garage, then perhaps an agreement of when the deadline of "unable to locate" should have been agreed rather than soldier on hoping it would turn up and SP would be ok, communication is the key (in whatever form).

SP - whilst anyone can understand the frustration - you do have the option to follow up within Ebays own complaints procedure (which admittedly you may have) before attacking in public environment (I'll remember these words should I ever be affected in the same manner )

Seriously though - for others unsure of Ebay don't be - of course it is about trust but there are still new sellers/buyers going on all the time and they have to start somewhere until they can build up a feedback rating. Not wanting an arggy - just think it needs a bit of latteral thinking.. party on..

Must say I hadn't even noticed the cost - think Steve would suggest it was a principle of paying for goods not received.. anyway - enough of that - anyone want an air-guitar - got one for sale on ebay very reasonable - used for such classics as Queen - One Vision, Free - Alright Now.

My wife and I both buy and sell on eBay very regularly.

I must say that we've seen "my computer had a virus", "I was on holiday", "we've been having problems with our postman" and "I've been ill for a few days" so often that they are fast becoming the eBay equivalents of "my dog ate the homework", "the cheque is in the post" and "of course I'll still respect you in the morning".

The key to good eBaying, both as a buyer and a seller, is communication. People will generally be fairly accomodating and understanding if you keep them informed every step of the way.

Yep, bought and sold quite a few things from 50p to hundreds of pounds without any aggro... though I certainly would kick off (even for £8.50) if I thought someone was having me on. Not so sure I'd use a public forum to air it on, however....
I've met people in pub car parks, laybys; had spotty students trying to tell me chapter and verse on things I know more about than they do, had an ex-copper say 'not a bad profit for something you got out of the bin' (well why bid on it? I'll put it back in the bin...)....
Makes one wonder how long it can continue. When will the first Ebay millionaire be revealed...?

Thats not fair....The way I see it is if you buy something you should not have to wait that long to receive the goods...they should have been availible straight away...the fact that it was only £8.50 does not matter, it's the principle...but saying that, at least CD had the honesty and guts to reply honestly on here that a mistake had been made....sorted before any real harm was done
