can we have individual sections in bike classifieds please
Discussion
One small problem here is that I'm not particularly knowledgeable about what is going on in the biking world, so would struggle to draw up a list of categories and would probably miss out some of the important ones but include some hardly used ones.
If I create a wiki in Biker Banter would you guys be happy to fill in the categories you think we should have. Then I can go away and create them.
Sound good?

What about a compromise - When you add your advert you chose the manufacturer and model from drop downs, but all the adverts get displayed in one category. The user then has the option to use another drop down in the filter section to then choose different makes/models?I've created the wiki, its here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
We will try to avoid splitting the categories too far, as this can cause just as many problems as not splitting them enough, but I think the section would benefit from having the most common makes and models split out.

searching my make and individual will be much better. going to update a few bikes not on the wiki list in bike banter when others have finished.
to add I added about 5 different makes on Triumph. privewed it ok posted. then checked a few mins later and they are not back off the wiki?

Generally a good move Mr Will -so definitely appreciated.
I hate to refer to another web site but MCN seem to manage a breakdown into model specific makes-although I suspect they see much bigger volumes than currently in PH classifieds.
Failing that a "rough sort" into engine capacities as suggested above would help.
I'm sure the BikerBanter population will help out if needed but carry on the good work thumbup

Can we have a "Road legal Motorcross/Enduro"
I see you have a "Trials Bike" section do you ACTUALLY meen "Trials" bike such as Gas Gas and Montesa's?
Or do you meen motocross/enudro bikes? (Trail) Bikes
Cheers kev
Was just about to post exactly the same thing.............. I would suggest you have:-I see you have a "Trials Bike" section do you ACTUALLY meen "Trials" bike such as Gas Gas and Montesa's?

Trials Bikes
Trail Bikes
> Road Legal
> Off Road only
Also with regards to Aprilia - not sure you need specific models, but would be good to break up 125 cc and over 125cc
Thanks

I think having, for example "CBR1000", "CBR600" will narrow it down too much. How about Honda -> CBR then use the filters to set CC to <400, 401-600, 601-1000 or whatever.?
This is the kind of category I was thinking of. Hundreds of categories with only one bike in will not work very well, hence the 10 bike minimum I suggested.sprinter885 said:
P.S. I'd probably suggest a broad category for "Off Road" as you seem to have Trials Bikes as an item & in that description you might have included Trials, TRAIL bikes & Motocross.
A broad off road category sounds fine, I think Trials did originally mean trials but the broader category would probably be more useful these days.Will- At the risk of creating more work (well , what you paid for anyway
) I think a "Classic & Vintage" section might be needed too due to some older models than don't fit into current model designation & it MAY prove popular for some of us oldies who faint at the sight of some classics...
