Matar
Mator
Motor
Maortor Paneer..
Mrs Bridgdav loves the stuff.
But as I started this reply, its different wherever you go, nationwide...
Different recipe's different tastes.
Can be Chick Peas
Green Curry Peas
Green Peas
Garden Peas
I now have a go at making my own.
All in a pan.
Garlic, Ginger, Fine chopped Onion, Garam Massala, A pinch of sweetener (honey, caster sugar etc)
Cook for 5.
Put in Tin of Chick Peas / Soaked Peas (24hrs)
Retain some water.
5 mins.
Should have a nice paste and cooking up nicely.
Add Diced Paneer. Fold in rather than stir.
Coating Paneer and chick peas.
Taste.
ADD
Water, Yoghurt, Coconut milk(solid), Spices to taste better or get the right consistancy.
As another twist - I have added grated mozarella at the end...
In a Indian Dish, put in the oven for 5 mins.
Bingo..!

I use Paneer in a lot of curry dishes now - makes a good "second" dish. The best thing is that you can buy thsi cheese in blocks in the supermarkets, and you can freeze it, so no need to use the whole lot in one go.
I've found the best Indian Recipes come from Mamta's Kitchen website - here is a link to her version of cheesy peas, though if you look up paneer there are a few other recipes you could try:

My favourites with Paneer are:
Sag Paneer (onion, garlic, ginger, spices, spinach, coconut milk, paneer)
Paneer Masala (Onion, garlic, spices, chilli, tomatoes & tomato paste for a sauce, then fry paneer and toss with the sauce)
I'm not too keen on teh garden pea version, but I'm going to try a cheickpea one soon
