I know it's all to do with negative growth for two successive quarters and all that, Manufacturing is st store chains seem to be shutting down every day and two million people are out of work.

Do we really need to be told officially it's a recession and that were fked.

We got told yesterday in an e-mail from our leader.
It basically outlined that some jobs would have to be culled soon.

Gulp.

At last. Does this mean that all and sundry can stop saying 'Credit Crunch/Crisis' or 'Downturn' now? If I hear anyone on R4 say either tonight I shall be livid. If you spot a man driving down the M4 raging at the radio, it'll be me rage

It sounds like they've finally acknowledged it, but are still trying to put a bit of spin on it with the old "For the first time since 1991" part. That was only 18 years ago ffs...

Isn't this just a credit crunch induced slump with a mild downturn and occasional bad day?

Pah!, we (Ireland) beat you to it, we've been having our own little recession since late last year. Just throw a recession party with cheapo food and drink, throw on some Bon Jovi or guns and roses and get on with things. We're all fked but at least we're all in it together.
