Le Mans 2009 - Karting Nord - campsite advice

Hi everyone, this will be my third trip to Le Mans, we usually stay in Camping Houx but this year we wanted to stay in Maison Blanche. Obviously, all pitches have long gone, so I'm after advice on where to stay. Karting Nord looks good, has anyone stayed there? We're going to be in a rabble of about 5 cars, 10 people. What's it like?

Noisy, dusty and full of exotics. At least it was 2 years ago!

I'll be there again this year.

We were there last year and again this year.

Good site, good location for the Village too.

Only problem we had was hammering tent pegs into concrete!

Track side position, not a bad walk to the Porsche Curves or the main village.

I've stayed in Beausejour for two years prior to Karting Nord. I won't be going back to Beausejour.

As Bigman has said above, I think Karting Nord is in fact 2" of topsoil (read dust) over a concrete slab. We bent a ridicules amount of tent pegs. This year I'll be using the following combination:

one of the lads on our pitch last year had a Dewalt drill and a masonry bit, worked a treat

This'll make you laugh. I've been banned from LeMans by my wife for a few years after a major crash there in 2006 which left me in a coma . However, I used to have a great little patch in karting nord in the same place every year in the far left hand corner where the road goes towards the kart track, it was just as hard to fix a tent and the cordless drill worked a treat, but when my mates went back to the tent after the ambulance took me away, some f****r had nicked my tent!
I've told her I'm going back next year no matter what. I bought a black Noble and its just not right that it doesn't touch French tarmac!

Stayed there a couple of times and it's really god with good toilets and showers.

Trying to secure a tent can be interesting which is why this year 4 of us have hired a decent camper van and will be getting pissed and enjoying the show in some comfort

Interestingly it's cheaper to have a pitch for a van than camping

Yep, all marked. Luckily we got given 'large' pitches by Just Tickets on the roadside which was a real bonus. Some pitches did seem to include tree stumps and the odd manhole. Not perfect, but it all adds to the novelty.

See, I always like to be as close to the track as possible and would hate to be near the entrance road.
