BBWF 09 Venue and date.
Discussion
Attention Wedge-aholics, I had a meeting today with the Events Manager at Park Hall Hotel (Chorley)with a view to using this location as as a venue for the Big Bad Wedge Fest 2009 and things could not have gone better (financial climate may have something to with it!)
Proposed date is a little earlier than usual and will revolve around Sat the 20th of June
They will allow us dedicated use of car park 4 (200 vehicles) and this is considered to be the best out of the 6 they have, (closest to the bar/hotel/facilities.
They have no problem with allowing our usual activities, rolling road, loudest Wedge, trade stands etc and will allow a designated area for them.
They are also prepared to allow a designated overnight parking area and put on some tea, coffee bacon butties, hot dogs etc during the day (chargeable) for those not wishing to use the Bar restaurant.
Currently 120 rooms are available
A discount price for rooms booked is as follows,Friday night £37.95 per head sharing in a twin room and £57.95 for a single (both prices include a full English Breakfast)
Saturday night £45.95 per person sharing a twin room and £65 for a single, full English breakfast included again.
Family rooms available at the above rates with a £15 charge for children.
Please do not attempt to book yet as the promotional code will only be released next week once confirmation has been given that we will use the venue.

We also have the option if required of having a Medievil Banquet on the Saturday evening complete with 5 course meal and entertainment.....(possible theme for the weekend?)
This is just a brief run through of what is available if we decide to use this as the venue for BBWF 09 and I would appreciate your thoughts as soon as possible so that I can confirm with the Hotel next week.
The Venue is situated a few miles from the nearest M6 junction and is very close to the M62, M62, M65, M55 and has very similar facities to our last venue.

Well done Tony, Sounds like a great venue.
Perhaps some of the locals could organise a drive out on the Sunday (not too early for those of us who might have thick 'eads).
Already working on that one! Don't forget we will be very close to Blackpool so a run out to our ancestral home could be on the cards!Perhaps some of the locals could organise a drive out on the Sunday (not too early for those of us who might have thick 'eads).
Happy to run with the batton of BBWF if enough people show interest for attending but will need some guidence from the stalwarts and assistance and ideas from volunteers to help make it as successfull as past events.

Hi Tony,
Nice work - Venue looks excellent and the idea of a Rumble to Blackpool gets a thumbs up from me as I've never been to Bristol Ave - never been to a wedge fest either hence why I was a bit disappointed to hear there wasn't one !
Good one, not sure If I can do anything to help out but I'm quite willing to offer !
P.S only 7 days to go till I get my wedge !

Well done Tony
And the date misses anything I can see in the TVR calendar
Gets my vote as I am only about an hour from Chorley
and a rumble of Wedges thru Blackpool has been a fantasy on mine
ever since I got my first Wedge
I'm sure we can get 3 or 4 Wedges across from West Yorkshire
(and lots of other WYTVRCC memebers as well are interested)
I would be willing to help in some way if I can
Well Done again and glad we have still got a BBWF
Cheers

Well done for securing a good venue. It'll be good to have a change of scene for the Wedgefest, and, selfishly, one so near to me. It will also be good for a new bunch of people to organise it, allowing the people who have put so much effort into previous years just to turn up and enjoy it, and also to give the event a different feel. Feel free to contact me if any help is needed.
Thanks for the replies, did try to avoid the date clashing with TVRCC events, challenge races and also the July/August holiday period.
The offers of help are greatly appreciated and will be in touch in the near future.
Just depends now on the majority of the Pistonheads 'massive' posting up and letting us know if they want me to confirm it with the venue, as I don't want to look a muppet if only a dozen or so Wedgers turn up on the day

This all sounds good and look foward to it.
I think this is the weekend after LeMans, and still not sure if I'm going to this yet.
Will probably not be able to bring the WSV up that far (especialy as may be taking to France or selling the beast, but maybe a change would be good.
Medival theme sounds good ,and a few wedgers enjoyed this them one christmas a few years ago.
Not even sure the Wedge will be on the road by then, as hoping to use my bonus at end of June for one last push on the Wedge to finish her off
Good luck with the organising and if you need any help feel free to ask ...... Gandalf

Actually this is going to be really tight! I'm driving back from LeMans on the Monday prior to this, doesn't give a lot of time to check/sort any problems before driving oop North (and there';s two of us with Wedges that I've got to keep running!)
Should be fun!
PS Is this date now fixed?

Snap, either be in lemans or if that fails for me be in Isle of Sky so will be popping in on way through in the Vecci with 2 dogs. Fortunately found a hotel nearby that excepts dogs as the BBWF venue does not Should be fun!
