Any chance of a GPL head to head racing in that big tent of yours ted?

£1 a go, goes straight to charity?

Excuse the ignorance, don't know what GPL stands for.....can you explain a bit more about what you want to do fully before we give it consideration?
edited to add:
OK, just ran a search on PH, seems to be some sort of gaming machine that multple players compete against each other.
We have access to the technology to make this possible via our interested sponsors, so more info is required please if the proposal will have legs.
Currently available is a sit-down pod, c/w plasma screen, wheel, pedals sounds etc.....it will need somebody who really knows all the in's & out's to oversee the project to make sure it is:
a) viable
b) possible
c) affordable
d) installable
e) operation(able)
f) sustainable for the duration

Maybe Mr. pwig would care to start the ball rolling????

We can assist wherever needed, but it will neeed somebody(s) to take charge of the entire project to ensure complete success.

If you prefer, please email: pistonfest@pistonheads.com

Basically, an internet connection is needed.

The game itself can be bought for £5 a go.

Im sure people would pay £1 a race, if it all went to charidee.

Fastest lap of the ring gets a prize at the end of the day?

Lap of the Nurburgring would take too long, certainly if people can't do a clean lap.

Plus they will need to do a flying lap so at least 2 laps will be needed, preferably 3. 3 lap of the ring would be at the very least 24 mins. I'm not prepared to wait that long for some to have "a go".

3 laps of Monza is much better as sugessted - 5 mins a go. Easier to learn for beginers.

Although even better still might be an add-on circuit of which there are many like Mallory Park, Goodwood, Oulton Park or Snetterton.

Goodwood sounds good! The net connection is only needed for downloading patches etc to get the game working. How many machines would we be allowed to have?

This sounds like a great idea!

Agree with the above comment though.......its a VERY difficult game, people who aint played it are going to need a good practice!

They had GPL at Goodwood festival of speed last year - someone modelled the hillclimb and people could drive up it for a small donation to charity. There were about 3 BRD Raceframes set up with some very nice wheels and pedals.

this sounds good...

if GPL is a bit tricky to set up... how about
GT3, Laguna Seca, Tuscans with all the mods and simulation tyres/no driver-aids...

could have a fastest lap competition, of split-screen on a big tv/projector... V.Good fun !!
