Any meets north of the border?
Discussion
well if you're the guy with the silver one in Hamilton you never got back to my email re meeting up before Xmas. Theres a couple of guys on here we could all get together - RossCowans just collected a black supercharged VXR and is keen to get together sometime. Havent spoken to him for a while or seen him on here for that matter but bigwheel (Ron) from Balloch I'm sure would be up for it. Theres also a guy from Ayrshire on here - forgotten his username but I'm sure we could get him along as well. Dave with the blue VXR8 may be up for it but I see he's got it for sale on pistonheads already - only had it a couple of months.
As for not seeing any on the road up here - up until last year I hadnt seen any I wasnt going to a meet with, then in the space of a couple of months I saw a red VXR heading through from Livi on M8, another red VXR having some fun going south on M74 with a TVR and a black VXR heading out of Glasgow on the M8 in the morning rush hour. I know of a yellow cv8 in Dunfermline owned by a woman, silver VXR down Peebles direction, red VXR down Kelso direction. Oh and theres another guy lives up the east coast, Fife been on here recently, don't know if its his car thats up for sale in the classifieds - being a bit optimistic looking for 20k for a stock VXR but good luck to him.
What we really need is a sticky at the top of the forum for people to register their names with locations because a lot of the guys up here only pop in once in a while. It would make it easier to get a list together of people to contact re organising a local meet.

uhm don't recognise the username though may have spoken to you before (its not Jeff in disguise is it?). apologies if I have but again I dont believe you're a regular poster on here (1 post in last 60 days!! - the one above), maybe another one of these lurkers we seem to have
Exactly this sort of thing that would make it handy to have a sticky list of username and location - even if its only the county, region you stay in. Then if trying to organise a "local" meet anyone could email all members in their area to make sure they know about it.

Not so much a lurker - Just don't come on here now much at all - Used to look on here a lot, but feelings were probably encompassed by one of the last postings I made which was back in 2007....

However, that doesn't get in the way of running the car! Nearly 4 years old now and still going good! Its back to being the only Monaro on Orkney again (Jeff Temple seems to have sold his), and from my runs south, still the only one in the Far North! In fact, aside from the one that Jeff had, and a red one that I saw "visiting" here in Orkney a few years ago, the only other Monaro's I have seen have been at Monkfish and at the Ace Cafe in London in 2006!

yeah Jeff sold his off late last year and is currently playing about with a 2.8 Signum iirc. Dedication to make it to the Ace in 2006 - long drive for January from way up there. Never made it myself - time and money are always in short supply after Xmas but I keep promising myself I'll make it down there sometime.
Mike have you ever seen that black VXR thats up for sale over your way? I've got a lot of mates over that direction into the Vauxhall scene in a big way and they've never reported seeing it on the road. Usually get to hear about anything interesting over that neck of the woods.
Anyway back to the original post - suppose we aimed for something in the middle of the country, easy to get to from any direction - Stirling or similar. Be easy for the Lanarkshire peeps to head up the motorway, bigwheel could cut across from Balloch, easy trip cross country for Mike as well. Never going to be easy for Windy Miller but if he's heading south soon we could tie in with that as he'll probably be passing by that way.

(well fans) Sorry about that mate but i never even seen a e-mail from you. Could of deleted it by mistake though because the sheer quantity of junk i've been getting sent recently. The car i seen in denny was a kinda purple colour had a feelin it was bobs car because i'm sure i seen it jst down from the Newhouse roundabout at the m8 sliproad a few months back. I was comin away from the denny high school site (where i'm still workin) when i spotted it. Looked prety wide on the road when your drivin behind. Its annoying though when theres another ro on the road and your stuck in a feckin van

actually the Falkirk Wheel's not a bad shout either, got some photos of my car up there on the pc somewhere.
Yeah the VXR in Fife is a private sale - its in the classifieds section on this forum.
Hmm purple - not unless the light was hitting it funny, my car's definitely black. Easy to spot now - its got the GTO raised spoiler on the back that Monkfish sell and the black VXR rear light cluster. No bonnet vents at the front.
No worries with the email, wondered if it might have been caught by spam filter coming from a hotmail address. If you want to meet up for a quick chat sometime soon just let me know and we'll get it organised. Meantime we need to try narrow down when we want to try have a "meet" for as many of us Scots owners as possible. I'd suggest we leave it to the slightly warmer/lighter days in March unless anyone is desperate to try do it sooner?
