Now i know they are 12 of one and half a dozen of another but what energy supplier do people use??

I've just checked my British Gas account to find they have upped my direct debits to £48 for Gas and £68 for electric for a single person who works 7-7. Apparently so that it covers the amount used. Of course i am now in credit due to this which is a nightmare to get back.

I've been told EDF are pretty good but reviews etc of all of them seem to paint the same picture. Anyone got experiences to share?

I currently use Scottish Power, I have had absolutely no problem with them since setting up about a year ago.

Prior to that I moved house 18 months ago. The previous owners never told me who the supplier was so I took readings and thought I'd wait until some correspondence dropped through the door. 3 months later, NPower sent a bill to a person I'd never heard of for a period when I wasn't living in the house, so I phoned them with my readings - "great, all sorted" I thought.

Another 2 months passed and I got debt collector letters addressed to this random person so I phoned them again. Apparently the idea of them sending bills to a person who had never lived in the house was too much for them to comprehend. By this time I had lost the original readings but told them I was happy to pay an estimated bill from my moving in date.

Several snotty phone calls from me later (and I am usually the epitome of calm) they closed my account and sent me a bill for 2 of the 6 months I had lived in the house. I paid up, shut up and went elsewhere - moral is, don't touch NPower with a stty stick, they are truely terrible!
