5 year / 60,000 mile service & maintenance pack
Discussion
Hi
Anyone had direct experience of the BMW 5 year service and maintenance pack when you are at the very upper end of the mileage?
My situation is that I have a 54 plate X5 which has just gone over 60,000 miles but have confirmed with BMW local dealer that they will cover any work up to 100,000 km, which equates to 62,137 miles. It is currently on 61,500 miles and is booked in a fortnights time which should be a shade under 62k on the clock. Dealer has agreed that anything 'due' will be done.
My question is what is 'due'? It will be touch and go on the service as service indicator is on one green light (and has been since 59,700 miles). I checked with BMW UK and they said if at the point the car is inspected, it is due a service within the next 1,000 miles then the dealer will get authorisation to do the work. By my calculations the service (inspection II!) will be due when dash shows amber which will probably be at 62,700 miles so over 62,137 but within 1,000 miles when they inspect the car. Anyone got any experience of whether the service will be approved or not?
Secondly, the MOT was done recently and there was an advisory on ALL discs saying that they were worn. However, just 2 weeks before the MOT was done it had gone to the dealer for a brake fluid change and I asked them to inspect pads / discs and they said they were fine. This was at 59k miles too. Just how 'worn' do the discs need to be to be replaced under the maintenance pack?
Any experience or advice muchly appreciated!
