He's quite funny but not THAT funny. Given that we have to pay the TV licence fee, is it right that he's a millionaire?

Should the BBC ask the licence payers whether he's worth it?

He gets the ratings, he gets paid. Not my cup of tea but millions of people clearly like him.

He's reasonably talented, but no, not worth the considerable amount he gets paid. But neither are the bankers, lawyers, shortsellers, fussballers, etc, its a mad world folk are not rewarded on their value to society anymore, sigh....

I'm afraid I can't bear him as an interviewer. He is funny, but if you are a chat show host, you need to draw the best out of your guest, and not try to constantly be the centre of attention. He only thrives on being the centre of attention and that isn't my cup of tea.

Clive Anderson is in the same league as a chat show host. Bring back Parky I say!!

The BBC does some fantastic broadasting, but Woss isn't part of it. The BBC's charter should hold true to the credo of "Inform, Entertain and Educate", but employing Ross and his ilk - at any salary - merely serves to broadcast the message that the way to get ahead in life is to be a worthless, gob-sh!te with the occasional amusing turn of phrase. He should be turned out to the commercial broadcasters - and I doubt that those businesses that actually have to balance the books would pay him anything like the amount the BBC are p!ssing away.

Another thread about him? - he must be doing something right.

Also.... as I posted on the other thread.

He's not paid a salary as such, at least not for his TV show. He's paid to produce a show via his production company.

Much of the money is to pay guests to appear on the show.

I think he's very good at creating an interesting interview situation. It's a talent and his company is rewarded handsomely for producing it.

If anything his recent issues will have added to his value when he inevitably moves away from the BBC.

An obscene amount of money, but so is £150,000pw for kicking a football around when a heart surgeon gets a minute fraction of that.

Good luck to him.....

He's good at what he does, but I still don't think he's good value for money.

The BBC agreed a massive £6m a year deal with the star yesterday after bosses fought a frantic battle to prevent him jumping ship.

The three year contract means the 45-year-old 'Wossy' will continue to present his weekly chat show, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, as well as his film review show and the Hollywood Greats series.

......

On top of that, Ross also stands to earn millions more through his company, Open Mike, which receives a production fee for making his Friday night chat show for the BBC.

Not so sure. The market can't afford these big salaries at the moment, and even if they could the companies will use the current economic conditions to beat these salaries down.

Also, Countdown got rid of Vorderman because of her high salary, replaced her with a new cheaper younger fitter bird, and the viewing figures have gone up. So much for big celebrity names bringing in the viewers! I'm sure that hasn't gone unnoticed in the boardrooms of tv companies.

Absolute disgrace IMO. I wouldn't care how much he earns if I didn't have to pay him, but as I do, I think it's a fking disgrace.
