Not sure about in this country but my cousin in America has a pet orangutan and it seems to be legal. He is quite well trained and even helps out round my cousins scrap yard, he does have a mischievous streak and has caused some problems with the hells angels but nowt my cousin can't handle being an ex bareknuckle fighting champ.

Does he help out any which way he can?
I viewed a house several years ago with a rather large garden. Built on the back of the kitchen was a tall, large, caged enclosure, pipes and frame work ran through the kitchen and in to the lounge where there was a small indoor cage, which housed two pet Monkeys...The owner wanted to also eventually sell the Monkeys, and had I been putting an offer in on the house was willing to leave them. I honestly can't recall what they were or if a licence to keep was needed. But was around eight years ago, and am now thankful I didn't purchase said house!

my mothers family had a monkey as a pet in the 1940's ... it was by all accounts a very playfull animal.
The problem was the they it have the run of the house and it kept escaping and terrorising the neighbours ... swinging from the curtains etc.. in the end because they would not keep it locked up in its cage they had to let it go to a zoo.
