Hi everyone i am from Orkney and have just bought a 2003 M3 estoril blue and love it! Its fitted with smg 19s H&K and loads of other toys. Having come from an extensively tuned scooby and evo background i like to modify/individualise my cars. I realise not much can be done to the car as it is already in a high state of tune from BMW. I would like advice on worthwhile (value) modifications to do. I already have a set of angel eyes and filter. I am considering a remap by DMS automotive (£595 for 20 hp 20 ft/lb and delimit) and maybe an exhaust. Any help would be appreciated i.e. what should i spend my hard earned cash on! I will add that I obviously will service my car at BMW garages and use only premium tyres and the recomended oil.

Thanks Ollie

Hi Ollie,

You could do worse than signing up on www.mtorque.co.uk.

Just put Thorney Motor sport or Simpson's into google, remapps only really show any reward unless you have 100cel cats and full exhaust, don't bother with induction kits unless you like the noise, because BMW got it right first time.

You can change the cams but we are now talking some serious money, and there are those who swear by superchargers.

just my view but I would go with 100 cel cats only, and "maybe" a remap, your better off starting with suspension, brakes, anti roll bars and generally make the car stop and handle better.

Look at Thorney site you can get an idea of whats available.

Mtorque is very ISP sensetive, Evotechnik has some very clever fellas who have done it all, but it has gone bit bling of late don't be put off because the clever one's are still there, mostly the Mods.

M3cutters is probally one of the newer sites for M3's also has a few people who have done most of things you can do to an M3

Look at Mad Russian site it will answer all your new owner questions

And good old pistonheads, the weathers nice so wait until the sun goes down and there really are some very sharp and clever people on here who will respond and I'm sure will eclipse my humble suggestions.

have fun

I was just quoting what DMS automotive told me! They actually come highly recommended by a lot of forums! No need 2 take the p*ss out of me.

I am going to go down the thorney motorsport route (full miltek exhaust 100 cel cats and a remap) for 2995 fitted. Sounds like a good deal for the quality of the kit and reputation of the guys.

Have a look at CA Automotive, they seem to know what they are talking about in regards to tuning the M3.

Not taking the piss chap, its a bit of a running joke about the BHP claims made by companies on the M3.

In short, don't bother, Tuning the S54 is like pissing in the wind. To get anything more than about 10bhp you need spend serious money, I'm always amazed at the amount of money people are willing to spend to get an amount of BHP which even the most accurate butt dyno's struggle to spot.

No offence intended, you have just been offered some very valuable information, in so far as it would cost you dearly to find out the hard way, I'm guessing that if you chucked 3K at your last two cars you would get a big result being turbo charged, with the M3 the gains are small and costly.

3k (ish) will buy you AP's all round
