Looking at some house plans at the moment.

Doors in most new houses seem to be 27 inch upstairs and 30 inch downstairs. How wide are yours, particularly if it's a small house or flat. Does 27 inch look / feel too narrow downstairs on kitchen and or living room ?

Or, if a small place, does 30 inch wide seem too big ?

Anyone got a mix of 27 and 30 downstairs and does that look odd ?

Thanks

DH

I live in an apartment. All the doors are 30" apart from to the toilet and to the en-suite which are 27". I'd never noticed there were different sizes until I just measured them.

Either your flat is tiny or it must be a nightmare to find the loo when drunk...

Cheers so far guys, 27 inch is starting to sound a bit too small downstairs. Current house is 30 everywhere. I know a lot of bathrooms are 27 so the door doesn't hit the loo !

IIRC building regs specify new builds to have 2'9" doors for wheelchair access.

Kitchen and louge doors are 33", first floor double bedrooms are 30", bathroom and single bedroom is 27", master bedroom on top floor is 30". House was built in 2005.

As I'm about 25" wide I don't have a problem.

My front door is 34 but only 68 high. I have just asked the wife to look at the back doors and she says the back doors have been bashed in.

Intenals all seem to be 33 inches
