Hi all,

Basically, having had a phone interview, i have now secured a final interview. It is for a summer placement for a massive car rental firm. I have been told to expect only a few questions to be asked but it is now a chance for me to ask them loads of questions...

I'm thinking of asking about how they are surviving the current recession etc... but any other ideas ?

Any help appreciated, Cheers

Depends what role you are doing...?

As its a summer placement - will you be the dogs body / Tea boy or can they offer you some training and gain experience in a number of positions - even if its shadowing someone.

Cleaning cars.?
Delivering.?
Accounts.?
Telesales.?
Booking.?
Front of house.?

What responsibilities will you have by the end of the summer?
How much does the amount of work vary over the year?
Does the company organise many social events?
How/when/why did the company start up/move to where it is now?

Also ask them if you can work together to understand and learn about the business..

Make some sort of workplan that you can track against.

Week 1,2,3,4,5,6
Assesment against targets
Week 7,8,9,
Assesment
Week 10,11,12.

Record your work and learnings. You might know by the end which area you prefer

Ask how much holiday you'll get and whether they pay above statutory sick pay. Ask how concerned they are about starting exactly on time and whether they finish early on Fridays. Ask if you get overtime. If it's a female interviewer, ask if she's got a boyfriend. If she says no, slouch back in your seat and look her up and down and nod approvingly.

One of my back-ups is to ask what staff turnover is like; shows that your interested in finding out how happy people are working at the firm with out asking out direct (if turnover is high then people obviously don't want to hang around for some reason).
