IWC Pilots XVI
Discussion
I've fancied an IWC for a while, so I had a quick browse in the local jewellers today, and found myself inside trying on a black IWC Pilot XVI, with black alligator strap. I had to stop myself doing the foolish thing and buying it there and then, as I thought it probably best to do a bit of research before I took the plunge. They had it up for £2200, and said they would do a deal on it for me; as a point of reference a guy I work with got £300 off of a Portofino they had up at £1950 a few days ago - so with this in mind, what sort of money should I be offering?
Also I guess more importantly, does anyone own said watch? What are your thoughts on it so far? I've got an Omega Seamaster for day-to-day wear, but the IWC would look great with a suit.
Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Bad time to buy one; the pound is very much down, so you'll be paying quite a bit for a watch with no complications. I'd wait.
Also, ask them what a new strap would cost...
Do you think I would be able to get one cheaper in Europe then? I was told they have recently increased their prices. Also, ask them what a new strap would cost...
They quoted me £125 for a replacement strap - which I would imagine may last me a couple of years with the amount of wear it would get.

You should aim to pay about £1900 (ie c15% discount).

Price rises are happening across the board. Was looking at a Patek in the Patek shop on Bond Street last week and they confirmed that prices will be going up. Some of the used prices are already adjusting in preperation...
If you have the cash and are happy with the deal then buy it!
Correct. If you have the cash and are happy with the deal then buy it!
Patek price are due to rise in the next couple of weeks. Jaeger's new price list comes into force on Monday.
