Does anyone shop there regularly I have to claim total ignorance and shop at Waitrose. However, I have been fascinated by what might be inside. I presume it is own brand/not something I have heard of brands.
Is the stuff ok/good - things to avoid? I presume you still have to pay in cash?

Lidl/Aldi?
i've been in a few, but they just seemed to be full of odd foreign things, and loads of belgian cakes that invariably contain marzipan.
I suppose what you would expect if you went into a corner shop in the Ukraine.
It didn't look like you could do a full weekly shop in there unless you eat lots of strange cakes

AFAIK it's still bartering in there - bring in a sack of carrots or something.
Naturally I try to avoid the Proles at Waitrose, its gone downmarket since they started letting the minorities in.
TBH, why don't you just get the help to sort it out - that's what I do on the rare occasions I feel like cooking myself.

Not many people in there (shoppers or staff) speak the same language as you.

there usualy quite quiet, think like going to tescos at 3 in the morning quiet

most people dont seem to speak english
they sell lots of randon stuff, like there will be a bike rack next to the cereals
and remember, you get what you pay for, if you buy cheap food, it will be full of crap

Give it a try, you'll be fine. I mean Waitrose is pretty proletarian isn't it? It's not like you only use Fortnums and have never mixed the working class is it? A lot of the stuff is produced by well known manufacturers, eg Aldi ice cream from ben & jerries according to a friends other half who unpacks it!i've been in a few, but they just seemed to be full of odd foreign things, and loads of belgian cakes that invariably contain marzipan.
