The time to change the c2s has arrived and my prefered option has long been a really good 965. After last fridays Noble track day however impressive the little Brit is, I really can not see me being parted from £58,000

a low mileage 965 has appeared on the radar with only 8k on the clock which would be totally A1 were in not for the fact that it is perlescent white with a largely white interior (black dash) so my mind is working along the lines of how easy would it be to get the colour dealt with professionally with minerva blue always having been one of my favorites and the interior turned to a more humble grey or black. I'm not wanting to skimp but don't want the arms broken either

perhaps this is pie in the sky but some input on the whys and wherefores would be much aprechiated on any past experiences, how much, where to go etc etc. I thought this might be the best way of getting the favored option, otherwise it's turbo 4 time.

My view on the interior would be to convert to a RS style. i.e. ditch rear seats and fit RS buckets. This would be cheaper than changing all the leather etc...

But to be honest, you may be better with a car that has more miles and full OPC history in the colour that you want.

I think a good paint job would be any thing between 6-12k...

The only way to properly change the colour would be to take it back to a shell - huge rebuild cost. You can do it on the cheap, but it would probably hurt value.

I would suggest keeping the white colour on the outside, and colour coding wheels/interior in blue, like the GT3-RS. Going for RS buckets in your chosen coloured leather (courtesy of Southbound), getting the rear seats made in the same leather (Southbound again), plus a few details in blue, would work quite nicely.

Putting in buckets would also help lose lard.

how easy are the buckets to come by, i quite like the idea of shedding a few unnecessary pounds( kilos really)

Southbound do Recaro SPGs on runners to fit a 911 for 1k per seat, in leather of your choice, IIRC.

Only Southbound do the modified runners you'll need, AFAIK, unless you get the RS parts from Porsche.

The SPGs look close enough to original Porsche Recaros. The Porsche part number ones fitted to the RS are ridiculously expensive, I think.

Many thanks for that domster after having had a few hours to mull it over I had rather come round to that way of thinking. Having said that a 965 turbo S has just arrived in the classifieds in this moths PCGB mag at an ok looking £62,500. Looking at the Autofarm site there is a pretty good looking 964 rs is this one you know about or would like to pass comment on? If it met with your sage like approval a trip that way would be on the cards.

Can't see the point of a Turbo S myself. Collector's piece, for sure, but I'd much prefer a 964RSR or a 993RS. Or if power is critical, getting a derestrictoresque 993tt and spend some money ditching the cupholders. Maybe even a GT3 for something nice and modern.

Re the 964RS, I prefer the LHD ones (no PAS etc) but some people only like RHD, fair do's. A 964RS is better than no RS at all, tho', whatever shape or size.

My tech knows the history of the black one. It has had a hard life, in terms of having been driven hard by a guy who goes racing in his spare time, but 9M knows the car and did the conversion. It is a Motec +1 which is about 340bhp if I remember.

My advice is to get an independent inspection on it, just to be on the safe side. Andy, my tech knows the car in question, used to work at Autofarm but is now independent, is near Autofarm and would be happy to do something like this.

Give him a call this evening on 07730 989895 if you want to.

Iguana was out in this one at the weekend. A clubsport spec 964RS at a good price. Again, a hard life judging from Pete's driving, but they can take a little abuse - inspection worthwhile, once again.
