Falken FK 452 Tyres. Good buy?

Need some tyres soonish. Bit of Googling came up with excellent customer reviews and very keen prices (£288 a set) for the Falken FKs. That's almost to good to be true IMO.

I've usually fitted the OE P4/6000s on XJs before - but has anybody tried these on a XJ? What do you think?

I'd be interested too, especially at that pice for a set.
My XJ8 has Kumhos and they are blardy awful - like teflon on ice in the wet!

Sounds like a good replacement for my balding p-zeros/Avons at the rear! I've found the side walls absolutely crap on the Pirellis... A good track day should see them off though. Muhaha.

There is a 25% discount on Vredestein if you are a member of the JEC, they are a great tire, reccomended for the x308 and have a great write up in Evo, and if you are after a full set it means you would get one free for the anual mambership of the JEC, about 30 od quid IIRC, + yopu get 12 copies of the mag.

I can't praise my Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's enough on my X308 XJR. Much better than the old P Zeros (for this car).

Went for the 912s after a bit more searching. Excellent reviews on PH and keenly priced - set of 4 £265 inc delivery from Camskill.

The 912 is a more comfort orientated touring tyre than the 425, which is what I was looking for. Done a couple of hundred miles today and I'm really pleased with them - very smooth and quiet and a more compliant ride then the P6000s, but still with good road feel.

Set of Celtics and P6000s in the classisfieds .....

I have the Falken 452's on the front of my 3.0 S type.

They are very good in the wet and dry,far better than the P6000's that came off IMO.

Trouble is I can't seem to be able to get Falkens in 255/40/18 size

Probably would have given them a go otherwise.

Go for Toyo Proxie R's (sp?) if you can mate. You can get them in 255/40/18 95Y. You can also get them from Camskill.co.uk for (relatively) very cheap.

They are widely regarded as one of the best all round tyres you can buy. Whilst that's a little subjective I've got nothing but praise for them and I intend to fit them to the big cat as soon as I kill these tyres...

Great in the wet and shed loads of grip in the dry. Wear isn't too bad either!

Just had FK452's fitted to my Audi S4 (not a jag' I know) but they compare very well to the previously fitted P-Zeros, can't really feel any differences under extreme load. Only things I have noticed are that the squeal a bit more under hard cornering and give less road roar on the motorway.

Edited to add that the main difference was that a set of 4 worked out £200 less than a set of P-Zeros's

I don't have a Jag either (A3) but I just fitted 4 of these to my car. Only done about 120 miles since, but they have a much better feel than the pieces of crap I had on there before (thanks previous owner). I'd heard great things about them from A/S3 owners, and since they are cheaper than any of the big brands, I thought I'd give them a go. Camskill are the cheapest place for them I think, got 4 205/55/16 delivered for £199

I (and a few others) had FK452's on my Cerbera and I thought them very good. However, that was written off by the driver behind me a couple of months ago now (while I was stationary at lights), so now I am the proud owner of an S-Type R. Nothing comparible to the Cerb, but I'm still loving it, especially in tonights weather. The Cerb was a bit of a handful in heavy rain, lol :-)

As a quick update I have driven through the horrific storms on the M4 tonight, kept up 70mph and the Falkens were excellent. Even in the standing water no hairy moments.

Me too. A12 was terrible Colchester to Chelmsford. Falken 912's felt secure even at high speed in crosswinds and heavy rain - I'm not saying quite how fast on the deserted bits.... but it was all in the cause of research.

Actually getting better all the time, noticably getting even quiter now I've done a few hundred miles and dropped the front pressure slightly.
